RECARO AIRCRAFT SEATING AND ALL NIPPON AIRWAYS DISPLAY R3 AND R4 SEATING COMFORT AT AIX 2025

HAMBURG, GERMANY, APRIL 9, 2025 –  RECARO Aircraft Seating and All Nippon Airways (ANA) unveiled their latest passenger comfort innovations at the 2025 Aircraft Interiors Expo (AIX). The new R3 Economy Class and R4 Premium Class seats, designed specifically for the next-generation cabins of ANA on international routes, highlight the commitment of RECARO to Driving Comfort in the Sky.

The R4 Premium Class seats feature an increased seat pitch of approximately 40 inches and an enhanced recline of about 2 inches, providing greater relaxation and reduced fatigue on long-haul flights. Meanwhile, the R3 Economy Class seats offer increased living space and a generous seat pitch of around 33 to 34 inches, making them some of the most spacious Economy Class seats available and ensuring a more comfortable journey for passengers. In addition to premium comfort, the lightweight design of the seats help decrease the aircraft's total weight, resulting in reduced CO₂ emissions and improved fuel efficiency. Furthermore, both the R3 and R4 seats are equipped with innovative features such as USB-C charging ports and, for the first time, Bluetooth connectivity. This allows passengers to seamlessly use their own Bluetooth headphones and devices, significantly enhancing the in-flight entertainment experience and catering to the modern traveler’s needs for connectivity and personalized comfort.

“ANA is committed to continually elevating the passenger experience and the new seats represent our ongoing investment in providing customers with greater comfort and convenience on our international flights,” says Tomoji Ishii, Executive Vice President, Customer Experience Management and Planning of ANA. “We will continue to seek out and implement innovative solutions to enhance every aspect of the passenger journey with ANA.”

“We are honored to partner with All Nippon Airways and introduce our R3 and R4 seating solutions,” says Dr. Mark Hiller, CEO of RECARO Aircraft Seating and RECARO Holding. “These seats exemplify the drive and dedication of RECARO for innovation, by offering enhanced ergonomics, increased living space and innovative connectivity features.” “The new seats truly represent the strength and success of our ongoing partnership with ANA,” adds Irene Tan, General Manager of RECARO Asia Pacific. “We are looking forward to continuing our collaboration in the future.”

ANA will introduce the R3 and R4 seats on its next-generation Boeing 787-9 long-haul international aircraft, with deployment scheduled to begin in fiscal year 2026. The introduction of these new seats demonstrates the ongoing commitment of ANA to innovation and quality in its service offerings, while reaffirming the leadership of RECARO in premium aircraft seating solutions.
