Outstanding in terms of quality, on-time delivery and efficiency

Close to 150 participants from all over the world took part in the 9th Global Supplier Conference, which was held under the “Supply Chain Globalization and the APAC Market” theme. They were given insight into Recaro Aircraft Seating’s current business developments and requirements. Within the framework of the event, the company selects the best suppliers from a group of its 100 most important partners every year. The award is based on ongoing assessments of quality, on-time delivery and efficiency.

This year, the Ohnhäuser company won the award for its expertise in the production of complex components in the production material category. The midsized German company manufactures mechanical components and functional modules, and is an established name in machine and plant design, in vehicle construction as well as in the aviation and aerospace sectors. The Wipro company (Western India Products Limited), headquartered in Bangalore, received the award in the non-production material category. A decisive factor was the company’s outstanding performance over the last 10 years in development services. Wipro is also known for the services it provides in IT consulting and system integration.

Two other companies were honored as finalists: Karl Berrang from Mannheim (Germany) for its broad product portfolio in the area of mechanical joining technology and for its outstanding performance. Franklin Products, an American company, was second finalist: the specialist in airline cushion and dress cover solutions was honored for its worldwide presence and flexibility.

To achieve this, we need strong partners – pulling together with us as a team.”

The Chinese production site in Qingdao was selected as a venue not only because of the conference’s central theme – the Asia-Pacific Market. Recaro Aircraft Seating is also exceptionally successful in this market. To serve growing demand in the APAC region, Qingdao’s capacities are being continuously expanded. At the same time, the doubling of production in 2016 and 2017 entails an increased demand for production parts.

“By strengthening our strategic purchasing market, we view the procurement market globally to ensure that we can secure our competitiveness in the long term,” says Laurent Bersot, Head of Purchasing at Recaro Aircraft Seating. “Essentially, our purchasing strategy is aimed at purchasing parts that are required for local production locally and, if well suited, to qualify our partners as suppliers for our global production network. This strengthens both, us and our suppliers locally.”
