New construction of Recaro’s logistics center strengthens company development
Groundbreaking ceremony honors site expansion
“This investment clearly acknowledges our commitment to the Schwaebisch Hall location and represents a milestone in our company development,” said Dr. Mark Hiller, Chief Executive Officer and Shareholder at Recaro Aircraft Seating, on the occasion of the official start of construction. “This will enable us to meet the requirements of our accelerated growth and the growing number of employees. In the current year alone, we have recruited 55 new employees. The resulting logistics center with a warehouse for 1,400 finished seats also enables us to operate more efficiently, to offer even better services and to enhance the overall service we provide to our customers.”
The premium manufacturer of aircraft seats celebrated the traditional groundbreaking ceremony with more than 60 guests from business and politics. At the end of 2017, the new logistics center with an automatic high-rack warehouse will accommodate close to 3,200 pallets and comprise over 39,000 containers in its small-parts warehouse. 180 parking spaces will be created in the outdoor area. Additionally, truck access to the logistics center will be redesigned and the recycling depot will be expanded.
“Recaro's entire value chain will be strengthened with this expansion project which will ensure short distances within production and the timely delivery of our products to our customers and partners. With the new infrastructure, we can continue to successfully pursue our global growth strategy in a very dynamic sector,” said Joachim Ley, Recaro's Executive Vice President Supply Chain, responsible for the comprehensive plant structure planning.
