Environmental milestone achieved
Recaro plant now certified according to DIN EN ISO 14001:2004
“Recaro goes green” – this is something that Recaro Aircraft Seating has firmly anchored in its corporate strategy. The company’s consistent implementation of an extensive environmental management system shows its customers – airlines and aircraft manufacturers – and partners the importance of professional environmental protection and conservation of resources.
Auditors from TÜV Rheinland earlier conducted a complete analysis of the environmental management system at the Schwaebisch Hall plant. The results were highly positive, and on March 27, 2012 Dr. Mark Hiller, Managing Director of Recaro Aircraft Seating, and Mirjam Bruhns, Director Quality and Process Management, received the official certification document confirming that Recaro in Schwaebisch Hall fulfills the requirements of DIN EN ISO 14001:2004. This means that the Recaro Aircraft Seating plants in Germany and Poland are now certified. “An additional requirement that is becoming increasingly important in the aviation industry is met now,” says Dr. Mark Hiller. “With regard to climate protection and environmental sustainability, as well as innovation and competitiveness, we are focusing on lightweight seat designs and energy-efficient processes.”
The auditors from TÜV Rheinland were impressed with how work is performed at the plant: “What is particularly exemplary is the life-cycle assessment at Recaro. This future eco-balance for seats defines lightweight design as a key aspect within the framework of environmental protection,” explains Gabriele Rauße, CEO of TÜV Rheinland Cert. “Another positive aspect is that the employees on all levels at the plant are making competent and dedicated contributions to Recaro’s environmental management system.”
